Niagara's ITC sector consists of some 230 businesses as well as the

sector and the manufacturing sector. It employs an estimated 3,800
people. "Venture Niagara is committed to enhancing the business
climate for Niagara's technology sector," states General Manager
Frank Rupcic, "This event will serve as a kick-off for some exciting
new ITC initiatives we will be undertaking this year."
In addition to the ever-popular web awards, which showcases the finest
Niagara area web sites, the evening event will feature refreshments
with an opportunity to network with local members of the ITC community,
a featured technology presentation and a keynote address from Evan
Carmichael. Evan is a co-owner in Redasoft Corporation, a Toronto
based biotechnology software company. He has helped Redasoft establish
a customer base of over 290 organizations in 30 countries including
NASA, Johnson & Johnson, and the CDC. Evan also helps entrepreneurs
build the companies of their dreams through his advisory program.
The gold sponsor and technology presenter and will be Alan Willick,
president, Neighbourhood Wireless. Neighbourhood Wireless is a division
of Talk Wireless, a Niagara-grown wireless
communication technology company. Alan states "Our mission is
to know our clients, and apply our knowledge to providing them with
information, products and support that adds value to what they do."
Neighbourhood
Wireless is the melding of an experience, an exciting broadband wireless
technology from Motorola called "Canopy", and the involvement
of local Internet Service Providers (ISP's). Together they have built
a comprehensive network of tower sites that provide high speed internet
access and VPN connections to Niagara businesses and consumers who
previously had no choice but dialup.
