What makes an angry person tick? Can anger contribute
to heart disease? Do you have to forgive the people that hurt you in
order to make the anger go away? Julie Christiansen answers all these
questions and more in her new book, Anger Solutions! Proven Strategies
for Effectively Resolving Anger, (220 pages, t. p. b., $24.95). Released
in September 2003, Anger Solutions! Proven Strategies was the
focus of a one-hour feature on CTS TV's program, On the Line. Julie
will be on site at Chapters, St. Catharines on October 30th as part
of their Local Author day. Anger Solutions! Proven Strategies
is currently available at Chapters St. Catharines.
International motivational speaker, Deborah Wilson says
that "Julie is insightful and masterful in untying the often complex
knots of human emotion. Her wisdom and humour is a gift to help us encounter
far less speed bumps or conversation collisions and far more clear communication
pathways." Anger Solutions! Proven Strategies dispels many
of the myths surrounding the volatile emotion we know as anger, and
lays to rest several common misconceptions about what is safe, appropriate
and effective in terms of resolving it.
Anger Solutions! Proven Strategies is a culmination
of almost 8 years of work. Julie Christiansen's experiences early in
her career as a mental health counselor, demonstrated a need for developing
a program that would address the underlying issues that often caused
her clients to act out aggressively. She found that most of her clients
were using "angry" behaviours like yelling, swearing, breaking
things, or physically attacking others because they were compensating
for other difficulties.
"Using aggression makes people feel powerful, or
in control", says Julie. "They may feel that acting out their
anger is the only way to get attention, or to achieve the results they
want." Using a ten-step model she took over 4 years to develop,
Julie walks the reader through the process of gaining more self-awareness,
defining what their anger is and why they respond the way they do. She
then provides practical tips and methods for resolving anger in a way
that is safe, and productive. The book also includes a compilation of
resources across the world that can prove useful to people who are experiencing
crisis and need more help than the book can provide.
An internationally recognized speaker, Julie was recently
recognized by the Business Link Niagara as one of the "Top 40 under
40" business people in Niagara. Julie continues to provide individual
coaching while training other community workers to use the Anger Solutions
Program with their own clientele. To learn more about the Anger Solutions
