Beamsville, May 28 - Pssst! Have you heard the news? The
Beamsville Strawberry Festival has added an exciting new event to their
schedule.
Maintaining the theme of a fun filled, family oriented
festival, they are including a Road Rally this year! It's happening
on Father's Day, June 18th. You're right...that is on Sunday because
they've also added a third day for the first time. Must have something
to do with the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of this longstanding
Beamsville tradition.
The Road Rally will begin and end at the West Avenue entrance
to the Beamsville Fairgrounds. As long as it's road legal, any type
of vehicle is permitted to enter. There are prizes for the driver and
navigator. The entry fee is only $30 per vehicle. Head out to enjoy
the peaceful countryside of the Niagara Peninsula along the route designed
by the St. Catharines Motor Club. Contact Rhonda at 905-562-9232 for
information and registration. Also on Sunday, a Father's Day Brunch
will be served by the Lincoln Agricultural Society in the Grandstand
Hall.
Friday night will see the return of the Charity Bed Race
and the La-Z-Boy Recliner Race. Taking place at the Beamsville Fairgrounds,
the activities start at 6 pm. with the Silvertones Steel Band followed
by the Bed Races at 7 pm. The Bed Race requires a team of 5 (4 runners/pushers
and 1 rider) and beds can be rented from the Association although your
own can be constructed and entered. For Race information and registration

La-Z-Boy Recliner Races will be run between the heats
of the Bed Races. The Beamsville Strawberry Festival Association provides
the recliners. Teams of 3 are required (2 pushers and 1 rider). For

This evening's activities will conclude with the performance of "For
Those About to Rock", an AC/DC tribute band.
