Manor Cleaners Earns International Award of Excellence

Ltd. is one of the first dry cleaners in Canada to earn the international
Award of Excellence for quality garment cleaning and customer service.
The St. Catharines-based business had to pass a series
of rigorous cleaning and customer-service tests to earn the distinction
from the Clothing Care Council of Washington, D.C.
“Finding a good cleaner that will consistently treat
you like a valued customer shouldn’t be a guessing game,”
said Cleaning Care Council spokesman Bill Fisher, a 40-year fabricare
industry veteran. “Having become an Award of Excellence cleaner,
Manor Cleaners is proof that quality cleaners do exist – and now
customers know where to look.”
Manor Cleaners owners Gino and Leona Marchionda are thrilled
to have earned the coveted Award of Excellence, and credit their hard-working
production and customer-care associates for the recognition.
“We couldn’t have done it without them,”
the Marchiondas said. “In our opinion, you won’t find a more
dedicated group of skilled fabricare employees anywhere in our market
area.”
They also credit the business’s modern equipment
and cleaning techniques.
Gino and his older brother established the family owned
and operated business in 1952. It currently employees between 50 and
60 local taxpayers. The business has eight locations in Niagara and
numerous home and office pickup and delivery routes. Everything -- including
suedes, leathers and drapes -- is cleaned at Manor’s 11, 000-square-foot,
state-of-the-art fabricare centre on Nihan Drive in St. Catharines.
Over the years, the business has been voted Best Dry Cleaner
by readers of local publications including the St. Catharines Standard,
Niagara This Week and Pulse Niagara.
The Clothing Care Council was formed to identify cleaning
plants that provide the highest level of garment care. It includes representation
from the cleaning and clothing manufacturing industries as well as a
number of consumer advisors.
